I have just finished reading 'The ...Great post! I have just finished reading 'The Broken Book' by Susan Johnson, a novel inspired by Clift's art. She wrote it without reading the biography (resisting reading it until she had finished) but in the acknowledgements says that she has since read Wheatley's work and that she commends it. The thing that stands out is the conflict a woman has between looking after children and her own creative life. Art School NSW Australia] has written a poignant book about her search to find her beloved mother Charmian, her origins and geneology; and includes much about the also famous writer/journalist George Johnston who wrote the well-known 'My Brother Jack'.<br />The books title is 'Searching for Charmian' by Suzanne Chick and was/is published by MacMillan Australia.<br /><br />Sadly for Suzanne when she finally found out who her natural mother was and after searching for so long she came to a lot of her past history and gebeology, yet not the one person she wanted so much to meet and grwo to know a little, her natural mother [who by this time had tragically ended her own life.]<br /><br />The pictures of Charmian Clift show a owman of brunette elegance and grace, beauty and a quality unnameable, which the daughter has also.<br /><br />A moving book, by a woman who is known to be a very wonderful writer also Suzanne Chick.<br />The sadness of adoption, and we all know no mother loses this way without anguish and tragic sense of loss...<br />Yet the triumph of spirit for Charmian's daughter lost to adoption who we all hope is doing well today.Pamelahttp://Pan Melos Galerienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18864142.post-2628075985996126222010-08-11T12:53:08.405+09:302010-08-11T12:53:08.405+09:30I love the literature because i think reflects man...I love the literature because i think reflects many aspects of our lives.
