I could be making a fortune

I predicted in that last post two days ago that Steve Carroll would win the Miles Franklin Award and I have just discovered that he did.

Well done you! I've never read any Steve Carroll. I'm glad it's the last in a trilogy. I like the thought of three books to catch up on. I'm reading Joan London's 'The Good Parents' at the moment and next in line is 'Bird' by Sophie Cunningham. An embarrassment of riches!

PC, you could take a leaf out of Beth Driscoll's book and do some betting on this prize. You could indeed make a fortune...

Yep, that was what I meant. I don't know who would take my bets, though -- what does Beth do?

sorry - very delayed response! For the Booker I bet at a William Hill outlet in the UK last year. The actual money side of it is quite disorienting. Not sure what would have happened if I'd won since I'd skipped home by then!

There are online options for some international prizes but I don't understand how they work with credit cards etc...I'm a bit scared...that way disaster lies. Maybe we should try it as a social experiment though?
